News Robert Mugabe finally resigns

Robert Mugabe resigned as president of Zimbabwe Tuesday.
“I Robert Gabriel Mugabe in terms of section 96 of the constitution of Zimbabwe hereby formally tender my resignation… with immediate effect,” said speaker Mudenda, reading the letter.

Former Vice President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, had warned embattled Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe to leave power or be humiliated.
This is contained in a statement he signed on Tuesday.
Exile Mnangagwa, who was fired by Mugabe from cabinet and Zanu-PF two weeks ago, confirmed that he had received communication from the President inviting him for talks.
“I can confirm that President Robert Gabriel Mugabe made contact with me and invited me to return home for a discussion on the current political events in the nation.

“I told the President that I would not return home now until I am satisfied of my personal security, because of the manner and treatment given to me upon being fired,” said Mnangagwa.
In the statement, the former Vice President, said he had warned Mugabe against defying the will of the people as indicated by the 93-year-old veteran nationalist’s televised speech to citizens on Sunday.
“In my conversation with the president I told him that there are two options, that is (a) to cooperate in the current negotiations with comrades from the defence forces for a peaceful resolution of this crisis, which would result in the preservation of his legacy. (b) that if he continues to dig in, in defiance of the will of the people, he might suffer humiliation because definitely the will of the people will prevail against one person,” Mnangagwa said.
The former Vice President said Mugabe had humiliated him on the day he was fired from government.

“He (Mugabe) requested me to come to State House, and l replied that l was out of the country, and that he had already removed my status as the VP of the country, as such I had no status, however, l can only come at the invitation of my colleagues in the party and of the defence forces, when they feel that my security is guaranteed”.
“… events that followed my dismissal on Monday 6th November 2017 at 4.00pm, my security details assigned to me and at my residency were immediately withdrawn. This was contrary to all the protocols that have exited in Zimbabwe to former State Vice Presidents of the Republic of Zimbabwe.
“Security personnel, who are friendly to me, warned me that plans were underfoot to eliminate me once arrested and taken to a police station. It was in my security interest to leave the country immediately.”
Mnangagwa said the move by Zanu-PF to impeach Mugabe after he failed to comply with a central committee decision to voluntarily resign could not be stopped by talks between the two.
“Parliament is the ultimate expression of the will of the people outside an election and, in my view, is expressing national sentiment by implementing the impeachment proceedings therefore talks between myself and the President cannot supersede the expression and fundamental rights of fellow Zimbabweans.
“The people of Zimbabwe have spoken with one voice and it is my appeal to President Mugabe that he should take heed of this clarion call by the people of Zimbabwe to resign so that the country can move forward and preserve his legacy,” the former VP said.
Mnangagwa reminded Mugabe that the former guerrilla leader had promised to step down if the people wanted him to.
“His Excellency, Cde Robert Gabriel Mugabe has always said that if the people don’t want him he will leave office, now that they have spoken he must now accept the will of the people and resign”.
He added that the President had admitted to “latent disregard to the interest of the people and dereliction of duty, surely after making such an admission common sense dictates that it should have been followed by an apology and immediate resignation to save the legacy of our struggle”.
Mnangagwa promised to return and join the struggle for Zimbabwe’s economic revival “once my security is guaranteed”.

EFCC To Recruit 2,250 – 750 Employees Per Year As Buhari Approves Recruitment

As part of plans to beef up the anti-graft war, President Muhammadu Buhari has approved 2, 250 job slots for the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC). The agency is expected to recruit 750 new employees per annum over three years.

The anti-graft agency in collaboration with the Federal Character Commission (FCC) has started the recruitment test nationwide based on the zonal offices of the EFCC in order to create a level-playing ground for candidates.

The commission was also said to have resorted to zonal basis in order to avoid a repeat of the stampede which affected a similar exercise in the Nigerian Immigration Service.

The President approved the slots to increase the commission’s number of core and support staff since the anti-graft war is moving to the next stage. It was however learnt that some highly-placed Nigerians want the recruitment to hold in Abuja so as to be able to wield influence.

A document obtained by our correspondent indicated that the EFCC has written to the Federal Character Commission (FCC) and obtained approval to go ahead with the recruitment. The document showed that each zonal recruitment test is being coordinated by a Director of EFCC, two commissioners from the EFCC and other top staff of the anti-graft agency.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “The approval letter was specific that we should employ at least 750 workers per year for the next three years. We have brought this approval to the notice of the relevant committees in the National Assembly. There is no question of secret or under-the-table recruitment.

“We decided to take the recruitment process to the zonal offices to create a level-playing ground for all. And given the high number of applicants, we chose zonal procedure to avoid recruitment stampede.

“But we are not waiving our recruitment procedures under any guise for the new hands. Apart from screening their certificates, we subject them to covert investigation and ask them to write tests.

“In order to be fair to all candidates, we are conducting the recruitment process at our zonal offices and after selecting the best, the relevant desks at the headquarters will further evaluate their performance based on our tight regulations.

“At the end of the day, the best candidates will proceed to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) in Kaduna for training. It was also learnt that Magu has drawn only 37 per cent of the N150million security votes appropriated for the EFCC chairman in 2017.

This is contrary to insinuations that the Acting EFCC chairman had been getting N15million monthly as security votes.

Another official said: “The records are clear. With a month left to the end of the year, Magu has only collected 37 per cent of the statutory N150million security votes (per year) for the office of the EFCC chairman. This is the least the commission has ever recorded.”

How President Buhari Is Preventing Corruption – Media Team

The Presidential Media Team, in a forthcoming book, offers deep insight into how the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration is blocking corruption loopholes in the nation’s public institutions.
The book titled, “Making Steady, Sustainable Progress for Nigeria’s Peace and Prosperity: A Mid-Term Scorecard on the President Muhammadu Buhari administration”, is set for launch in Abuja on Nov. 16.

In an excerpt of the 348-page publication, the team notes that beyond arrest and prosecution of suspects, the Buhari government is strengthening public institutions for accountability and transparency.
The book explores measures being instituted by anti-graft agencies, especially the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), in this regard since the last two years.
These include conduct of System Study and Review in ministries, departments and agencies, and Corruption Risk Assessment (CRA) in various sectors of the nation’s economy.
It says the education, health, water and aviation sectors as well as e-governance platforms, including the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS), have benefited from the ICPC’s CRA exercise.

The exercise, it adds, has led to the identification of weaknesses in the systems that create opportunities for corruption.
Consequently, the commission has designed Integrity Plans directed at plugging the loopholes and enhancing the integrity profile of the systems for efficiency and effectiveness, it states.
The book promises to clear the cynicism of many Nigerians, who think the Buhari government is more reactive than proactive in its fight against corruption.
Nevertheless, the publication contains milestones recorded by the ICPC in the area of convictions, and recovery of looted funds and assets since the inception of the Buhari government on May 29, 2015.
The book was edited by Femi Adesina, Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity; Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, and Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President, Media and Publicity, (Office of the Vice President).
The Buhari Media Support Group (BMSG) contributed to the publication, whose foreword was written by the president.
The book will be presented by APC National Leader Bola Tinubu and reviewed by Prince Tony Momoh.

I Didn’t Ask to be a Billionaire’s daughter’ – DJ Cuppy Says She Doesn’t Boast Like Davido

Even tho she just said their were times she wished been born poor, You can’t remove the fact that DJ Cuppy is billionaire  daughter, the 24year old in an Interview with Goldmyne TV has revealed how she used to feel uncomfortable telling people she a daughter of Femi Otedola, She also said she and Davido has no similarities, cos he boast, while she doesn’t see below!

“In my song with Tekno, Green Light, I tried to be more open. Looking back at my upbringing, I grew up with a lot of borders. I love meeting people, I love having fun with people, but I didn’t grow up doing that all the time. But I am an adult now and I can choose my own. So, I am choosing to be open.
Although, I am so grateful to God for my upbringing, as my parents took good care of me and gave me the best education. But I miss some things. People tell me that they once did certain things, which were fun. For instance, they once took a bus and go to someplace alone. Someone had also told me that they once went to the field and stole corns. You may think all these don’t matter, but I don’t have those memories.”

Have you ever wished you were not Otedola’s child? She replied;

“That was back in the day, but I am now very comfortable with my skin. In the beginning, when I first entered the industry, I felt a lot of artistes or industry people didn’t like me.
I thought they felt I was entering their space with an advantage over them and thought it was unfair. But now, I feel like I have paid my dues and I have built a good reputation over time for myself.
Now, I am happy to say who my dad is and I cannot change it. I have embraced it and I see it as a blessing now. People have to understand I just wanted to be someone’s child, so; they shouldn’t use that against me. I could walk into a room and, before even opening my mouth, everyone had formed an opinion about me. It is like you don’t want to give a young woman a chance to express herself.”

Speaking on the difference between her and Davido, she said he singer decided to use his upbringing to his advantage from the outset.

“He told everyone he was OBO (Omo Baba Olowo); take it or leave it. I am not that kind of person, but he was smarter because before you could use that against him, he had already told you.”

NLC Hail Buhari For Sacking Maina

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has hailed President Muhammadu Buhari for ordering the immediate removal from service of former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Force, Abdulrasheed Maina.NLC President, Ayuba Wabba in a statement in Abuja, Monday, described Maina’s re-engagement and posting as Director to the Ministry of Interior as an affront to law and procedure.

He said it was a huge insult to Nigerians; and a mockery of the president’s fight against corruption.
“Except those involved in the Maina Gate, every other person in Nigeria was aware of the report of the Senate after a painstaking investigation; the refusal of Maina to avail himself to the Senate or the EFCC; his being declared wanted by the EFCC; his taking refuge in the corridors of power then, complete with a retinue of armed personnel, before his subsequent elopement to a foreign country when power changed hands.
“Maina had all the opportunity to clear his name in court if he felt the Senate and EFCC were biased against him.
“But, he did none of those. Instead, he and his co-conspirators in the new corridors of power elected to do the unthinkable, promote and post him because they think Nigerians have forgotten. It is sickening. It stinks to high heavens.
“As follow-up action to Mr. President’s directive, we at the Nigeria Labour Congress demand a full investigation of the circumstances that led to Maina’s flight and reinstatement; and prosecution on allegations of corruption,” the NLC President stated.
